On behalf of the American Public Works Association's Board of Directors, members and staff, welcome to our online gateway for public works information, education and advocacy. We represent the millions of public works infrastructure professionals in both public and private organizations who work tirelessly delivering vital services to their communities. We are committed to celebrating their achievements and providing the most cutting edge information and resources to support their work.
This site enables you to learn about and take an active role in APWA's educational programs, information sharing and advocacy efforts. We offer numerous forums for members to communicate with one another (InfoNOW communities and social media), online registration for conferences and education programs, profiles and details on activities of our 64 chapters at the local level, and links to a variety of other public works resources. The APWA WorkZone is also a great place to find an exciting career in public works.
In 2008, we launched a new APWA Center for Sustainability, which will actively support our members in the environmental and sustainability movement. In September of 2009, the Board of Directors adopted a new strategic document that serves as the guide to enhance APWA and the services we provide to our 29,000 members and others in the public works community. We continue to deliver and develop world-class professional development and education programs, and are working with decision makers to develop long-term infrastructure funding solutions.
APWA has a strong tradition of service to the public. If you are visiting and are not yet a member, we invite you to join us as we promote "public works in the public interest."
